About Department
A hearty welcome to the Department of Civil Engineering at Jawaharlal Nehru Govt. Engineering College Sundernagar (HP). The department has started in the year of 2010 with undergraduate programme i.e. B.Tech in Civil Engineering & Post Graduate Programme i.e. M.Tech in “Construction Engineering and management” in the year of 2022 under the DEPARTMENT OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION, VOCATIONAL AND INDUSTRIAL TRAINING , HIMACHAL PRADESH. The programme has followed the Himachal Pradesh Technical University Hamirpur (HIMTU). The department vision is “To become a center of excellence, providing quality education & research for civil engineers with ethical standings for socio-economic and sustainable development of the nation.” The department has well qualified and dedicated faculty. Also, department has established all the Civil Engineering Laboratories those are well equipped with advanced machinery. The objective of the department is to prepare Civil Engineering students for a successful career in Industry, Research and Academics with professional ethics to meet the needs of growing technology. For the overall development of the students; department of Civil engineering is associated with memberships of professional bodies such as Institution of Engineers (India), ISTE etc. We also formulated a Civil Engineering Society i.e., CES. Various activities under these chapters and society help to improve the knowledge, professional ethics and interaction within the students as well as with the industry persons. Students of Civil department also showcase their talent in various sports and intercollegiate technical events and bagged prizes in academics as well in co-curricular activities. Also, our students secured a gold medal and university topper positions at Himachal Pradesh Technical University Hamirpur. Our graduates are working in Government Sector as Assistant Engineer, Junior Engineer in PWD, IPH, also in Multinational Companies, Defence Services, and Academic Institutions in India and abroad. Last but not least our technical supporting staff is unique in its own way. Students, as well as visitors, find them very friendly, amicable and highly intelligent!
